Airspace

Why does my shoot sometimes need more lead time?

Drones are regulated like small aircraft, and near airports the FAA controls how and whether I can fly. In some spots I need permission before flying there at all, not just for high shots. Most properties I shoot aren’t affected and can be booked on normal notice.

If your property is in one of those restricted zones, I have to request clearance from the FAA before the shoot. That approval typically takes about a week but can take up to 6 to 8 weeks, and there’s no way to speed it up, even for urgent bookings. So, if you’ve got a location near an airport and a firm date, the sooner you reach out, the better. Not near an airport? We’re almost always good to go on normal timing. Either way, send your address and I’ll check it for you.

Pricing & Booking

How much does a shoot cost?

Package prices for real estate are on the Services page. For anything bigger, the quote builder walks you through a few questions and gives you a real number instead of a “contact us for pricing.” Either way, the price you see is the price for a typical job, and I’ll flag anything that would change it before you book, never after.

Are there any hidden fees?

No. Three things can add to a listed price, and all three are shown before you book: the add-ons on the Services page, a larger property that takes more flight time, and travel to the High Country or the Colorado Springs area. The quote builder shows every one of them as a separate line, so you see the same breakdown I do.

Do you require a deposit?

Yes. For real estate work, a $50 deposit is required for jobs under $300 and a $100 deposit for jobs $300 and up. The deposit reserves your date and is applied toward your final balance. It’s fully refundable if you cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled flight. On the commercial side, milestone programs carry a 25 percent deposit up front credited to your last visit, and monthly retainers are paid a month in advance. Need to reschedule? Just let me know at least 24 hours in advance and I’ll move your booking at no additional charge.

What if my project doesn’t fit one of the listed packages?

Tell me what you need through the contact form, or run it through the quote builder. Most projects fit an existing package, sometimes with an add-on. Commercial and construction work is priced per job, so the quote builder gives you a realistic range from a few questions about the site, and we settle on the firm number after we’ve talked it through. No guesswork either way.

How do I book?

The fastest way is to build your quote: pick what you need, see a real estimate, and send it over. Prefer to talk it through first? Send an inquiry through the contact page with your address and what you need. Either way, I’ll confirm the final price and hold your date with a deposit.

What if the weather’s bad on shoot day?

Safety and image quality come first, so if wind or weather won’t cooperate, we reschedule at no charge and your deposit carries over.

Licensing, Insurance & Safety

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. I hold an FAA Part 107 remote pilot certificate, my aircraft is registered with the FAA, and every flight carries $1 million in liability coverage at no extra cost to you, with higher limits available up to $10 million. Most commercial contracts ask to be added as an additional insured on that policy, which is no charge at $1 million or $2 million limits. If your contract requires $5 million or more, up to $10 million, that adds $100, one time. Either way, the certificate is in your hands before the first flight.

What areas do you cover?

I primarily serve the Denver metro and Front Range, including Broomfield, Westminster, Arvada, Boulder, and surrounding communities. I’m also available farther north and into Colorado’s high country by arrangement. Travel is included throughout the Front Range. The High Country adds $50 to a real estate shoot and $100 per trip on commercial work; the Colorado Springs area adds $100 to a real estate shoot and $150 per trip on commercial work. Anywhere farther out, I’ll confirm travel with you from the address before anything is booked.

Want to see what travel adds for your property? Pick your area in the quote builder, and it shows up as its own line in your estimate.

Will you fly over my guests or my crew?

Safety and FAA rules always come first. I’ll plan the flight around people on site and explain any limitations before we fly, along with safe alternatives when needed.

What You Get

How fast will I get my photos?

Most shoots are delivered within 48 to 72 hours. Need them faster? Rush delivery gets your files back within 24 hours for $50.

Do you shoot interiors or ground photos?

My main work is aerial, but I also offer an interior fly-through video as a real-estate add-on. For still interior photos or ground photography, I’ll work alongside your photographer or refer you to someone good.

Who owns the photos?

You get full rights to use the images to market your property, listing, or business. I keep the copyright, and with your okay I may show the work in my portfolio and on social media with city or neighborhood stated, but never your address.

Can I get the raw, unedited files?

Edited deliverables are what’s included. Raw footage can be arranged on request.

About the Name

Why “Sundog”?

A “sundog” is an atmospheric halo the sun makes through ice crystals. It’s a bright, colorful spot of light on one or both sides of the sun that shows up when the conditions are just right. Good aerial work is the same: the right light, the right conditions, the right spot in the sky.
